Re: wxFormBuilder won't build what I want

This is an old thread but I'm trying and failing to replicate part of it in wxFB. Specifically, adding a panel to a BoxSizer like shown above: CaptureWxFB2.JPG But wxFB won't let me add a panel to a BoxSizer. It puts it at the same level as the Frame as shown below: CaptureWxFB.JPG Is there settings...

Re: wxTreeListCtrl class tag set to "unknown" in XRC?

Sorry, should have included in my original post wxFB v3.6.1 wx 3.0 I ran the XRC demo in the wxWidgets/sample folder and it runs great except wxTreeListCtrl isn't in the example. wxTreeList is and wxTreeCtrl is, but not wxTreeListCtrl. Seems like it was somewhat overlooked? Also, when I add a wxTree...

wxTreeListCtrl class tag set to "unknown" in XRC?

Below is XRC generated by xwFormBuilder for both a wxTreeListCtrl and a wxTreeCtrl. As shown, the class tag for wxTreeCtrl looks OK but wxTreeListCtrl is set "unknown". Is this class type not supported by XRC? <object class="sizeritem"> <option>1</option> <flag>wxEXPAND | wxALL</flag> <border>5</bor...

Re: Recommendation for c++ gui builder?

eranon, thanks for the thoughts. I since found http://wiki.codeblocks.org/index.php?title=Comparison_of_wxSmith_features that lists the features of the various gui editors, including wxSmith and the others you mentioned. wxSmith wins hands down as being the most feature rich. Any idea why its no lon...

Recommendation for c++ gui builder?

I'd investigating Wx GUI builders for c++ development on Windows. I'm finding there's a few, including wxFormBuilder, wxCrafter, and wxGlade. Is there a preferred choice among the community? If not, what are some of the pros and cons of each?

Creating A DLL Of An Application

I'm playing with the MVC pattern and would like to bundle my Wx code in a DLL. There's a nice entry in the Wiki https://wiki.wxwidgets.org/Creating_A_D ... pplication but it hasn't been updated since version 2.9.0. Is there more recent post or blog somewhere on this topic?

How to build C:\wxWidgets-3.1.0\lib\vc_dll?

I'm sure this is a noob question, but I downloaded 3.1, loaded the wx_v12.sln file, and compiled. It gave me the ...\lib\vc_lib binaries, but I need the DLL binaries. What are the steps for building vc_dll? I'm on Windows 10, Visual Studio 2013 (v12).

Hello World wx sample app taking minutes to close in debugger

I'm working with VS 2013 and the small apps I'm developing are taking 5+ minutes to close when running through the VS debugger. E.g., the Hello World wx app found here http://docs.wxwidgets.org/trunk/overview_helloworld.html has the same behavior for me - when I close the app using File > Close or h...

Re: How to resize wxGLCanvas after Reparent

@doublemax, thanks for the thoughts. Both canvases are children of different notebooks that were added using AuiNotebook::AddPage() so I can't use Detach() and Insert()? (The notebooks are children of wxStaticBoxSizer's.) I tried swapping the canvases using AUiNotebook::RemovePage() and AUiNotebook:...

Re: How to resize wxGLCanvas after Reparent

BEGIN_EVENT_TABLE( MyCanvas, wxGLCanvas )
:
EVT_SIZE( MyCanavas::OnSize )
:
END_EVENT_TABLE()

... is that what you're asking me? I confirmed what I'm seeing by checking the pointer value of "this" in the ::OnSize method and it's the same value even then swapped to Monitor#2.

Re: How to resize wxGLCanvas after Reparent

@doublemax, thanks very much for the thoughts. We are using sizers and I tried calling wxFrame::Layout for both displays but it didn't change anything. Debugging my original problem some more, I am seeing some weird behavior where the OnSize handlers seem to follow the canvas to the other display de...

How to resize wxGLCanvas after Reparent

I'm swapping two GLCanvases using Reparent. (Got help with it here: https://forums.wxwidgets.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=43620 ) Works great except the original canvases are different sizes and not resizing to their new notebook windows. I tried calling their OnSize handlers, which works for resizing fo...

Re: How to swap two GLCanvases between two notebooks

@Manolo, thanks very much for the very detailed and clear response. My code uses two contexts, so I coded up the Reparent approach and it worked great! Just what I needed. The only byproduct is the canvases are different sizes and don't resize to fit their new windows.Really a separate question, so ...

How to swap two GLCanvases between two notebooks

Our app uses two displays. Each display has a wxAuiNotebook. Each notebook has a wxGLCanvas added to it using wxAuiNotebook::AddPage. Both canvases render great. I need to swap the two canvases between displays on the fly, but want the notebooks and other widgets to remain on their respective screen...
