Re: restoring wxFrame position on app start, an offset is required?

Thank you once again, doublemax. And iwbnwif, thank you too. I had a look at persistent objects when initially investigating my needs, and chose to just save my top level window position & size, rather than everything about the window. For those interested in the full solution for using wxConfig to ...

restoring wxFrame position on app start, an offset is required?

WxWidgets 3.0.2, dev on MSW with Visual Studio 2013 Community. Deploying to MSW amd Linux. I am using wxConfig to store my topmost wxFrame's position and size. I use the OnSize() event handler to record width, height, and an isMaximized boolean. This works fine. I use the OnMove() event handler to r...

wxConfig usage question

Using wxWidgets 3.0.2, developing on Win10, Visual Studio 2013 Community, deploying to Windows and Linux. The application I am developing has a "data object" centric architecture. Meaning there are 4 key types of objects in the application, each with a collection of configuration parameters. End-use...

Re: wxBoxSizer appearing within wrong wxStaticBoxSizer [SOLVED]

Thank you! :D I have the "Cross-Platform GUI Programming with wxWindows" book, and it must be describing the old 2.8 method for using staticBoxSizers. I'd been looking at the book and the online documentation at the same time. I thought the information online and the book were the same, so was not l...

wxBoxSizer appearing within wrong wxStaticBoxSizer

In the following image, the left is what I am getting and the right is what I want. (I made the version on the right in Photoshop.) Looking at the wxWidgets generated version on the left, the three checkboxes for the "XML" box are supposed to be inside the "XML" box, but are appearing on top of the ...

Re: Why are my panel controls all on top of one another?

Yes, I did verify that my this pointer is the wPanel. The documentation I'm using as my primary source is the "Cross Platform GUI Programming with wxWidgets", (just purchased from Amazon 3 weeks ago) and that does not describe the "convenience" constructor for a wxStaticBoxSizer that also creates a ...

Re: Why are my panel controls all on top of one another?

Looking at some other correctly working wxWidgets code creating an interface, I see a creation of a wxStaticBoxSizer, but no creation of a wxStaticBox. I thought both had to be created separate? In this other code, I see this to create: wxStaticBoxSizer *content = new wxStaticBoxSizer(wxHORIZONTAL, ...

Re: Why are my panel controls all on top of one another?

Here's a screen shot of the result: badUI.jpg The notebook's 4 tabs are external to this issue. It's the "Interfaces" controls I'm trying to build, and as you can see they are all collapsed. I think I need to rebuild my wxWidgets library. The wxWidgets library build scripts seem to be buggy, though....

Why are my panel controls all on top of one another?

WxWidgets 3.0.2, developing in Visual Studio Community 2013, targeting Windows and Linux I have a top level frame, with a notebook, that holds a series of panels. I am trying to create three sets of controls for this panel, with each set of controls inside a static box. However, every attempt gives ...

Re: Almost working modeless dialog: just not receiving events

I'm going to rebuild wxWidgets, but I wanted to thank you because I did finally get this working. I tried popping a wxMessageBox() at that same place in the logic, and that triggered an assert about being in the wrong thread. Tracking down my context, I realized I was within a callback from a separa...

Re: Almost working modeless dialog: just not receiving events

> Which Visual Studio and wxWidgets version are you using? Visual Studio Community 2013, update 4 wxWidgets 3.0.2 I followed a guide from the wxWidgets.org site, and then I got DialogBlocks, which "took over" building the library. I don't use DialogBlocks often enough to be proficient using it, and ...

Re: Almost working modeless dialog: just not receiving events

Thank you for this. I'm still having issues. I am starting to suspect I have a flaky build of the wx libraries. I thought I'd built an x64, unicode monolithic library, but seems like something is misconfigured because my visual studio library is vc_lib and not vc_x64_lib as I see in some of the setu...

Re: Almost working modeless dialog: just not receiving events

I am working in Visual Studio, and have placed breakpoints in the onButton() callback, and it is not being triggered... I tried to convert to a wxFrame by changing the 4 different references to wxDialog to be wxFrame. That behaves in a similar manner, meaning I get no interactivity. I can't drag the...

Almost working modeless dialog: just not receiving events

After various versions, working from examples and samples, I have the following nearly working modeless dialog. Searching this forum, I found a fix to the controls not rendering - which is a call to Update() after Show(). This "works" except there are no events being passed back. I thought button cl...
