Re: wxWidgets OLE Initialization Conflicts

The wx init doesn't seem to do what I need -- doesn't get me the security that's required for the queries I'm making. I set all the COM/OLE/clipboard settings to off in setup.h since they're not needed in my project but it still continued to log that error. I ended up commenting out the error messag...

wxWidgets OLE Initialization Conflicts

I have an application that uses COM to access WMI hardware data on Windows. I added wxWidgets for GUI screens and the COM initialization conflicts with what I need for WMI. If I initialize wxWidgets first, I get a RPC_E_TOO_LATE already-initialized error when I make my call to CoInitializeSecurity()...

Thank you very much for spotting that. I changed the wx-config path to /usr/local/bin and everything built fine.

Looks like I can ditch those fishy changes to the makefile... had the same error with or without them.

Need A Little Help Building a wxWidgets App on MacOS 10.6

I have a wxWidgets app that was written on Ubuntu that I'm trying to get to build on MacOS 10.6 to run on any OSX version 10.5 or newer. I've read the OSX/wxMac pages on the wiki, but there's something that just isn't quite right and I can't put my finger on it. When I try to build my app, I get thi...

Hey, that did the trick! Thank you.

I created a wxPanel, placed it on the wxDialog, and attached all the controls to that and all is good now.

I guess something about the wxDialog on wxMac doesn't let you set all the background color directly.

These should be the relevant parts: ... class wxKeyboard: public wxDialog, public OctaveCallback, public MidiSettingsInterface, public HarmonicsCallback, public AudioSettingsInterface { public: bool Create( wxWindow* parent, wxWindowID id = SYMBOL_WXKEYBOARD_IDNAME, const wxString& caption = SYMBOL_...

wxMac wxDialog Background Color

I have a single-window application derived from wxDialog. I set the background colour on Windows and it works fine, but on MacOS 10.6 the dialog's background color stays white. The same thing happens for the background color of text labels -- fine on Windows but ignored on OSX. Is there some extra f...

Crash in ~wxTopLevelWindowBase on Delete wxDialog

I have a Windows wxDialog-derived DLL-based app (a plugin) that crashes on exit. It dies in ~wxTopLevelWindowBase at this point: if ( wxTheApp && wxTheApp->GetTopWindow() == this ) wxTheApp->SetTopWindow(NULL); My stack trace is this: wxTopLevelWindowBase::~wxTopLevelWindowBase() Line 65 + 0x19 byte...

Even if it's less popular now, GIF is still one of the most common file formats -- certainly more so than a lot of the others that are supported, so it is probably worth having.

It looks like The GIMP can save GIFs. Maybe they have some code we can pilfer... err, I mean, adopt?

wxWidgets already includes winsock.h code for its wxSocket and related classes, so that's why you're getting duplicate errors.

If you want to get rid of the wxWidgets socket code, you can get rid of the "#define wxUSE_SOCKETS 1" in setup.h before building wxWidgets.

GIF Saving?

The GIF patent expired in 2003/2004. The wxWidgets docs say that wxImage cannot write a GIF. Is that still true or has that been added by now?

If GIF saving was added, do you know in what version it first appeared?

Linker Error Porting to wxMac

I've been a Mac owner for all of 5 hours now, so you could file this under newbie questions. I have a wxWidgets photo viewer app that works on Windows and am trying to build it for MacOS. I get a few linker errors about a wxTopLevelWindowMac and wxWindow. Although I installed 2.8.10, wx-config --ver...
