Re: Strange Occasional loss of mouse input

I will try the one-shot timer approach - I hadn't thought of that. I did look into the timer issue a bit (using a similar approach to that one), but there is still a big resolution problem. The timeBeginPeriod() call still has a best resolution of 1 millisecond, which means I could run either a 16ms...

Re: Strange Occasional loss of mouse input

In looking over some other posts about event handling, I'm wondering if I might be having an issue with my timer-based rendering loop. Doublemax, you mentioned that if the timer events were happening too fast this could be a problem. Other posts have alluded to having events "backed-up". What COULD ...

Re: Strange Occasional loss of mouse input

It SEEMS as if it takes a while (at least a few hours) before this happens, but it happens so infrequently that it is hard to say anything for sure. Several times I have gone back into the lab where it is running and found it in this state, but not really knowing how long it has been that way. Only ...

Re: Strange Occasional loss of mouse input

Thanks for the fast response! To address your suggestions: - I don't believe it is a CPU/Rendering load, as over the weekend it occurred again (on a very high-end machine) when it was only rendering a small amount of text (the CPU load is usually around 1%). - In this particular app, I don't have an...

Strange Occasional loss of mouse input

I have an unusual bug which appears quite rarely, and I am curious if anyone has seen something similar. This is using wxWidgets 3.0.2 on Windows 7 (VisualStudio 2010) Once in a while, it seems like my application stops registering mouse click input (both left and right buttons). When this occurs, i...

Re: wxTimer issue

I'm having a similar problem. I want a 60hz update/rendering loop (i.e. performed every 16.67ms). Option A - using timeBeginPeriod() does not seem to work. The wxTimer update rate/resolution does not seem to be affected in any way. From the MSW docs it seems that timeBeginPeriod() only affects "high...

Re: Disabling Right-Click option on wxTextCtrl?

Do you see this in any of the wxWidgets samples (e.g. "widgets"?). Yes, I see this issue in both the "text" sample and the "widgets" sample. To reproduce: 1) Run the "widgets" sample in debug mode. 2) Right-click in the text control (the control labeled "Control Height"). 3) Hover the mouse over th...

Disabling Right-Click option on wxTextCtrl?

Is there a way to disable the right-click options on a wxTextCtrl? Not only do I not really want/need those options, it seems to cause an assert if you bring up the "Insert Unicode Control Character" sub-menu, but then click elsewhere (closing that sub-menu). I would have expected some style setting...

Re: Question about SetClientSize()

Well, the problem is really not the rendering (that all works fine). My concern is that SetClientSize() seems to be misbehaving, regardless of what is eventually going to be put on the panel. It seems like a bug that I can request a client size for a frame and (without it generating an error), give ...

Re: Question about SetClientSize()

Why would you want a frame that's bigger than the screen size? Wouldn't it become impossible to resize for the user? Yes, this is probably an unusual situation. In my case, I am doing OpenGL rendering into the panel, and the results of this rendering are then being read back and post-processed. Thi...

Question about SetClientSize()

I am running wxWidgets 3.0.2 on Win7, and am getting some unexpected behavior out of SetClientSize(). I have a wxPanel inside of a wxFrame. In the constructor of the frame, I do SetClientSize() for the frame to set it to the size that I want (this is not hard coded, as it needs to be configurable). ...

Yes, that works quite well. In my case, I need to set the max size.

Thank You.

Size of a wxSpinCtrl

How can I set the text width of a wxSpinCtrl ? The control I want is only supposed to allow a single digit (the min value is 0 and the max is 9), but the control default to a width that would hold like a 15-digit number. Is there some way to specify the "text width"? I tried using GetSizeFromTextSiz...

Re: Problems playing AVI file with wxMediaCtrl

Sorry, this is using wxWidgets 3.0.0

I believe the default is DirectShow, but I tried them both in the sample, and got basically the same results.
