Sometimes you have to be careful though. I do know that Idaho webhosting blocks mail.ru and other domains because they are known as spammer domains. So when someone registers with that domain, I get a failure notification that the mail could not be delivered. I have *never* had someone complain from...

How is the speed problem now? It seems to be very responsive again ...

I have not received any response from Jason yet but if he fixed it, that is also fine by me

Hi all, If nobody really has the time to take over to participate more actively in administring, or will do it out of obligation, or fear the forum will slowly degrade, then there should be no worries. I will keep maintaining it where needed if people have login problems or other problems I will kee...

When I was explaining it to Jason, and posting on the forum I also noticed that one minute it was like super fast, and the next post it was super slow. Which seems to be something like a bottleneck on the database. Maybe it can only handle like 20 connections at the time and the old ones are not pro...

Hi Tierra, Thank you un advance for the offer. It is not that I will abandon it totally when there is no one who is willing to take it forward, I will not be as visible but I will keep maintaining it. It is just that with everything going and all, the forum kind of "deserves better" to be brought fo...

Handing over the forum

Hi Guys, I have not been visible much for the last few weeks, months maybe. This is because my work demands a lot of time, and my areas of interests are diverged. Now, I would like to make someone admin, give him also the passwords to the plesk web interface, SSH server and what have you of the host...

It depends in which handler you are updating your list. GUI updates happen always, but if you use events like OnIdle or even OnPaint to update other GUI controls, you might miss out on updates because your window is not active. But then again, if nobody is looking at the window because it is minimiz...

Hi, I will have to look into that. When I am able to find time to set up my home PC with a new version of the forum, the first thing I want to do is upgrade this forum to a newer version of phpbb, and after that see what is needed to upgrade some other parts of the forum. Thank you for your input! W...

Yeah like I said there are always two sides on a coin, some like it and some don't. This method has been accepted for quite some years now, so I think it is best to just leave it the way it is for now.

Hi CMark, Yes I know, it might not be the most solid mechanism, but it helps in reflecting status of our valued contributors. For example, if a person has like 2000+ wxAwards, if he either helped answer (assist) 2000 questions, or got awarded for accepted answers 400 times, it still means he is pret...

I would file a bug report for that at the bug tracker site. It is webpage related, but hey it is also preventing a lot of people from going through the pain of finding that out for themselves ;-)

I would vote for putting BCC on position one on the list of deprecated, outdated, buggy and most incompatible compilers for wxWidgets, ever! If you wonder why, search the forum for "linker problem borland", and it will become clear. My advice is, use MinGW (wxDev-Cpp / Code::Blocks), MSYS (Makefiles...
