Are you linking wx in DLL or static?

It should work if you link your dll with DLL build of wx

Not a good idea...
Incase the menu is floating over "moving background" it will look funny ( I tried it couple of years a go :D )

Hi,

You dont need the mutex/condition to call wxPostEvent from within the worker thread, simply call:

Code: Select all

// Send the event. Processing will not start until we unlock the mutex.
wxPostEvent(ptrMainWindow->GetEventHandler(), wxCommandEvent(wxEVT_DATA_RECEIVED));
which is perfectly thread safe.

It is not an option, all the symbols that were missing are part of Windows socket library, so you needed to tell your linker to link against it as well.

You can do it by using wxAUI and placing the toolbar as AUI toolbar. This will make the toolbar float & dockable.

Have a look at the wxAUI sample that comes with wxWidgets

I usually compiles wxWidgets like this on Windows & MinGW:

Code: Select all

mingw32-make -f makefile.gcc UNICODE=1 SHARED=1 MONOLITHIC=1 BUILD=debug
To compile it on monolithic/unicode dll

Can you give it a try?

The only different I see between your code, and the one I usually writes, is that I never used
SetSizerAndFit, but rather I do this:

Code: Select all

SetSizer(pDialogSizer);
GetSizer()->Fit(this);

Code: Select all

Layout()
was never needed for me (including on Mac)

In that case
/usr/bin/sh: -c: line 2: syntax error: unexpected end of file
you probably don't have /usr/bin/sh ...

Maybe it is hard coded? or maybe you are running the wrong makefiles
