Re: Threads and Program performance

Hi! I mean what you should consider so that your threaded up would be effective? What are pros/cons of those considerations? Am I still vague/too general in my question? Like Auria said, this is very hard to answer. I doubt that there is a general rule for effectiveness, as it will vary from app to ...

Hi! You can do that in multiple ways. Using wxImage::SetData() or the respective ctor of wxImage might be the most common case. /*assume width and height are 500 pixels*/ int w = 500; int h = 500; /*get buffer from somewhere else*/ char* imgBuffer = getImgBuffer(); wxImage img(w,h, imgBuffer, true);...

Hmm.. I would have thought this is SPAM as well. Anyway I'll leave it for Jorg to decide. (Dang! You're too fast for me :-)) Please, next time, don't post news unrelated to wxWidgets and/or C++. Although this is an open platform and you posted it in "Announcements", we mostly deal with very specific...

Hi! The udp hole punching itself (sending data and keep-alives) should be pretty straight forward to implement, as it is basically all about sending initial packets to a well known server and relaying the information of other clients via this server. The critical parts in this are IMHO 1. Defining y...

Hi! I wonder which component of the AV scanner reports this. Most of the times I had problems like this with the heuristic methods they tend to use by default. Sometimes they'd report a virus in an exe which I just compiled on the very same machine. Norton is especially "clever": I did some research...

Re: Create custom installer

Hi! I guess using other installer systems are also detected as false positive or will be detected in some future release of the anti-virus programs. I only know InnoSetup and never had problem using it to create a proper installer. You are right: Some AV apps may give a warning. Especially Norton is...

Re: Newbie

Hi! what swings is to java wxWidgets is to C++?? In a way, yes. wxWidgets covers more than just GUI programming. It has other classes for other stuff, like wxString, wxSocket, etc. I suppose it's better to compare it to MFC or Qt, but if you meant GUI programming, then yes, wxWidgets is sort-of-swing.

I suppose it also depends on having someone to print and sell the book :-) And I expect it to take some time. I really wouldn't want to see this been done in a hurry. When Qt4 came, some books were only "adapted", meaning the old stuff like in Qt3 was discussed, the same examples were used and just ...

Hi!
Just an addon comment: For Linux you don't have to modify setup.h yourself. The configure script has an option you may enable and the correct values will be set in setup.h.

Hi! how to do this in C++? i mean sending ' this ' as a parameter! what is ' this ' equivalent in C++? Well, to make things short: this is this :-) I suppose in C# "this" might be a reference (I don't have any experience with C#), while in C++ it's a pointer as well. You could modify your code a bit...
