Ahhh finally, the problem has been solved. For some reason unknown to me, the @#$&% rc file was using the wrong line end character, instead of CR LF (\r \n), and for another reason (also unknown to me) the piece of &#!% VS.NET dint bother to tell me about it, it displayed the file correctly, i found...

Thanks for your answer This way I have more control of the colours, transparency and everything else as well. How do you have more control over those things? the reason i dont use XPM is because (accroding to the docs), it cant handle images with more that about 250 colors. Or maybe this information...

Thanks for your answer, the original version of the file used "/" (same problem), the one i posted was after 1001 modifications trying to make it work. In other words, using "/" instead of escaped "\" dint solve the problem. Edit: Yep, just for kicks i went and changed the escaped "\"s to the correc...

You need to compile the library before you use it. See the install.txt file in the wxWidgets folder.
For the rest of the setup, check out the following topic

mhh, you DID buy the book right? if so, please excuse my suspecting attitude and the source is on the CD that came with it.
Else:
The book is $24 bucks for petes sake! and buying it helps out the wxWidgets developers! so please buy it.

Actually, the code changes sugested in that topic, are (only) to allow loading catalog files from resources. I suggest you Download wxMSWResources class at wxCode, it was designed specifically for this. http://wxcode.sourceforge.net/complist.php read more about it here http://forums.wxwidgets.org/vi...

Heres my 2 cents: i seem to remember reading somewhere in the wxWidgets docs, that you do not have to use multi-threaded, but you must be 1000% shure you wil never ever attempt any multi-threading. this can be tricky, cause even if you never use it, you might sometime decide to use some nice 3rd par...

wow! dint know that Windows95 support was removed in VC2005, if i had known this, i would have never even bother to try it out!. Belive it or not, some of my clients STILL have W95 in some of their PCs. About binary size, i found that one of my projects, that was 1.57 MB was now 1.91MB, using (of co...

IMHO: its is *NOT* worth it. like lowjoel said, "the good this is the standards compliance" wich is of course true, but we have to define _CRT_SECURE_NO_DEPRECATE and _CRT_NONSTDC_NO_DEPRECATE if we expect it to work with wxWidgets (and not get 10 billion warnings), by we are shuting down its standa...

Ibe just found out why. There seems to be "a small bug" it VC 2005. some of the stuff that appears in the project->properties->command line window IS NOT REALLY USED at compile time! i examined the BuildLog.htm generated after the build, and TERE IS NO /D "_CRT_SECURE_NO_DEPRECATE" /D "_CRT_NONSTDC_...

VC++ 2005 - more trouble

I just dont get it. i followed the instructions at http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/wxwidgets.asp on how to compile wxWidgets with VC2005 express. now i want to compile wxWidgets with it, so i opened wx.dsw, clicked "yes to all" when prompted to convert, and when i attempt to compile, i STILL ge...

Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition. - Is it worth it?

I found out that VC++ 2005 express is now out of beta status, and that its free. I currently use VS.NET 2003, and im wondering a few things, any input would be greatly appreciated; 1) ibe read that there are some "special steps" required to get wxWidgets working properly with it. Like some trouble w...
