Re: wxgrid native look

Most of wxGrid is a generic widget. The native equivalent controls to use as an alternative are often wxListCtrl and the newer wxDataViewCtrl. Both are often much more limited in terms of customization, but that's because the native controls for each platform are significantly less customizable (as ...

Re: * if it possible to create a word docs using wxWidgets in Windows?

Assuming you were to also pull in a 3rd party library that could generate the Word document from raw text, or shell out to a utility to do it, yes, but wxWidgets does not have that ability itself.

Re: Building wxWidgets for Windows

Do you actually have Cygwin or MinGW installed? That looks like a standard command prompt, which these instructions don't apply to, and where you likely don't even have gcc in your PATH. Second, you didn't even follow the instructions correctly: It asked you to create "build-debug" directory, and ru...

That's pretty cool, I'll have to check this out later. I have a D54250WYK NUC myself, though it's running linux, so I don't know how helpful this is for now.

Re: Is there a QObject class constructor similar in wxWidgets?

It's a very nice feature to not have to free the objects you've created - I assume the Qt developers thought so as well, so they implemented it. You are basically talking about a core language feature, so I still don't see why a GUI toolkit should be responsible for providing this functionality. Ho...

Re: Any plans to port wxWidgets to Ios,Android or WinRt?

Either way is pretty horrible; the NDK stresses that you really shouldn't be writing apps for Android in C++ unless you have to. I always think that the disparity in interfaces and Android activity program flow would be a real barrier to wxWidgets. That's pretty much how I feel about it as well. Qt...

Re: license inclusion?

Yes, it would be appropriate to include the others if you link to them. This is typical on Windows, but not as common on Linux or OSX since most wxWidgets builds are configured to link to the system libraries, and don't end up distributing the included libraries you mention here.

Re: [SOLVED] Build on Mac OSX Yosemite 10.10 with Xcode only

It sounds like TrueCrypt has been updated to work with 3.0 then, but you'd have to confirm that with them, not here.

wxWidgets 2.8 is only compatible with the 10.6 SDK at the latest. You can install older SDKs, but you'll only find them bundled with older versions of Xcode (in this case, 4.1).

Re: Build on Mac OSX Yosemite 10.10 with Xcode only

Are you building the library using the Xcode project files, or using the command line configure/make? If the latter, what are the configure options you're using? What are the first few errors?

Re: QDGetPictureBounds undefined when compiling wxMac 2.8.10 on OS X Yosemite

2.8 never supported OSX 10.10 (I'm not even sure it officially supported 10.9 either for that matter), so you're likely out of luck there. However, it should also be possible to build wxWidgets 2.8 with older OSX SDKs that should be compatible with 10.10 (see --with-macosx-sdk and the --with-macosx-...

What you need to know is: I want to use completely different GUI style, and not the Windows one, Whole UI is based on the external PNG images Pretty much the most important goal of wxWidgets is to offer native user interface components in a cross-platform manner, and these two requirements are enti...

Re: Annoying -Wdeprecated-declarations

You could turn off WXWIN_COMPATIBILITY_3_0, WXWIN_COMPATIBILITY_2_8, or WXWIN_COMPATIBILITY_2_6 if you're using 2.8 (hopefully not if you're attempting to use this new of a compiler though). From configure, you can turn those off using --disable-compat30, --disable-compat28, or --disable-compat26. w...

Re: Issues with wxWidgets 3.0.2 and Visual Studio 2013

So how do i fix the intellisense issues? Turn Intellisense off? Heh. Really though, it depends on how you've configured your build. Intellisense isn't always as smart as it claims to be, and there's just some things it can't detect like some of the compile-time build configuration options wxWidgets...
