My suggestion would be not to use wxWidgets array mechanism except the wxArrayString and wxArrayLong. You can use a vector instead: typedef vector<int> IntArray; typedef vector<IntArray> MultiIntArray; IntArray a; a.push_back(5); IntArray a; a.push_back(10); MultiIntArray m; m.push_back(a); m.push_b...

You want to look at my article at CP: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/library/wxwidgets.aspx It shows MFC comparison with wxWidgets (taken from Julian Book) Basically wxWidgets is very similar to MFC, but also support some advanced ways like event connect method, and all event handlers have same retur...

derive a class from wxTextCtrl and override the method:
http://docs.wxwidgets.org/stable/wx_wxt ... trlcancopy
and return false.

If I understand correctly you want to call Add dynamically after the control is created.
Then you can call Fit() after that. I guess you might have slight refresh issue also with that.

Well it looks like I can easily reproduce this at least in the .h files, any strings in Unicode mode defined using the _() macros won't compile unless I redefine the macro in the header file.
Wrapping it with wxString won't work, as wxString won't take char* in Unicode build.

ya I know the locale directory on GTK+, but internat sample don't uses predefined menu ID's. Everything is hard coded, and if you check the system menu it is not translated in internat also.

Will the predefined strings comes for only the default system language or the application locale.

Locale Problem

When I add code like that, the Menu labels are not converted to the proper locale, all other strings that I have in my program and .mo file are converted. editMenu->Append(wxID_CUT); editMenu->Append(wxID_COPY); editMenu->Append(wxID_PASTE); http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3036/2694104473_8f98b68f77....

I think something gone wrong in my project, I guess somewhere in some source files (not my source files, depended sources) the macro is redefined. Anyway for the time being I have defined the macro manually to my source files, that would override previous things. Just wondering is there any way to f...

conversion from ‘char*’ to ‘const wxString’ is ambig

I am using Unicode build of wxWidgets wxGTK2.8 and this code fails in compilation: mb->Append(fileMenu, _("&File")); conversion from ‘char*’ to ‘const wxString’ is ambiguous, whereas this code passes: mb->Append(fileMenu, wxT("&File")); but then how would I support internationalization. Also this wo...

Well in Windows accelerators works, not sure with wxWidgets, but most likely with wxWidgets also, as much as I can recall.

I am currently using the child controls approach, but there can be n type of child controls, I'll try to investigate the wxApp::FilterEvent.

Thanks

For anyone interested, check the glipper code, it uses and timer based approach. Also there is feature request pending in wxTrac for last 3 years :)
