Maybe test it using the wxString::Append() function or similar instead of wxString::operator=. If there is a logical error forcing that may point you in the right direction or it won't compile.

According to the docos, wxString::mb_str() returns a wxCharBuffer in the unicode build (and char * in the ANSI build). Casting this to char * will give you pretty much what you're getting i should think.

Try using wxString::c_str() instead of wxString::mb_str(). ;)

Not exactly sure why it does it like that but I'm guessing it might have something to do with how the controls are layed visually on the frame/dialog.

You can easily change the control creation order however by right clicking on the form designer and choosing 'Change Control Creation Order'. ;)

Hi, And.. how do you fix it ? I have the same problem. I use VC.net 7.1? I use Dev-C++ and there's a nice little undocumented feature in the project options that simply states 'Enable XP Themes'. Check and that and it's all good. What that option seems to do is create the required manifest file, wh...

Seems to be only partially fixed. If the image has a width and height both greater than 180px then all is good. If the height is less than 180px then the width is still cropped to 180px and vice versa. Looks like there were 2 other places where the clipping occurred. Can you try the 4 oct alpha and...

Enabling XP themes

This has got to be something simple that i'm missing, but when I build an application from scratch by hand, my buttons and other controls are visually using the old windows styles instead of the XP themed style. BUT!! When i create a basic application using wxDevCpp i get the XP themed styles. Probl...

I thought that 180 px thing was fixed eons ago Seems to be only partially fixed. If the image has a width and height both greater than 180px then all is good. If the height is less than 180px then the width is still cropped to 180px and vice versa. Unless i'm doing something REALLY weird.

Found another bug

If the bitmap being used has the height less than 180 it still crops the image width to 180.

For example, my 400x60 image is cropped to 180x60 when the XPM is created.

I found a minor bug with the alpha version. If you add a staticbitmap to a form and hit F9 (compile and run) WITHOUT saving, it doesn't create the XPM file. It will only create it if the save command is called manuall by clicking the save icon, or saving when exiting to project. Other than that, wor...

Sizer limitation in the form designer

I'm just wondering why there is a limitation in the form designer that prevents me from adding a sizer to a form that already contains controls? This limitation does not exist in wxWidgets however. But i keep getting a message box telling me i have ot remove all controls from the frame before I can ...

as highlighted in http://forums.wxwidgets.org/viewtopic.php?t=3460 it is a known bug (that has been fixed). You can wait to see the latest release, or get tony's alpha ( http://reina.homedns.org/wxdevcpp ). However, it still won't work in win 9x, unless youdraw it using wxScreenDC. Thanks Joel. Que...

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but wxStaticBitmap should be only used for images not larger than 64x64. This is told to be a problem on win9x, but not sure what it really affects. A control that draws the image on EVT_PAINT should be used instead. But as I said, this is probably not relevant for...

wxStaticBitmap and JPEGs ???

I've got 2 screen grabs that will explain this better than I ever could using words. Basically I'm trying to use a wxStaticBitmap to display the background of a fancy menu in my app. In the IDE, i get this: http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/6153/wxdevcpp17vw.th.jpg Which looks exactly as it should....

I just had this same problem and your devpak seems to have fixed it for me to.

The big question is, why isn't wxODBC compiled for wxWidgets in wx-Devcpp?
