App Won't Shut Down After Constructing wxJoystick

wxMsw-2.9.3 Windows XP If I create a wxJoystick I have to hit Ctrl-c to kill the process. "x"-ing out closes the window but the terminal is still captured by the process. controller.h #include <wx/wx.h> #include <wx/joystick.h> class MainWindow : public wxFrame { public: MainWindow(const wxString& t...

Re: Linking to libstdc++ and libgcc

I tried doing that using LDFLAGS="-static-libgcc -static-libstdc++" , but that didn't work. I guess I'll have to try going in and editing the Makefile. ----- EDIT ----- Both libs are statically linked into the dll, but when I compile a program it still depends on them. And if I try to use -static-li...

Qt Port in Progress

Looks like there is a port of wxWidgets to Qt in progress: http://wiki.wxwidgets.org/WxQt/Status. Makes me happy 'cuz Gtk widgets are ugly in Kde environment unless QtCurve or the GTK-Qt theme engine is used.

Taking a Long Time to Compile 2.8

Here is my experience compiling wxWidgets 2.8 with MinGW. I've compiled before without specifying whether to build a static or shared library and the compilation took 2 or 3 hours (old machine), and only the shared library was built. I've specified that both shared and static libraries should be bui...

Re: Compiler Not Looking in Explicit LIB Directory

You were right about pointing it. I had to add the "--prefix" flag to where it was installed:

Code: Select all

g++ test.cpp `wx-config --cxxflags --libs --prefix=/c/Env/wxWidgets-2.9.1` -I/c/Env/wxWidgets-2.9.1/include/wx-2.9 -o test

Linking to libstdc++ and libgcc

I compiled a shared version of wxWidgets 2.9 with MinGW. Now when I compile an executable it is always dependent on libstdc++-6.dll and libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll , even if I use the flags "-static-libgcc -static-libstdc++". Well I hate having to distribute those with every executable, although I know that ...

Compiling on Windows with libgcc libstdc++ Linked Statically

Compiler: MinGW/MSYS/GCC (g++) I want to compile the wxWidgets library linked statically to libstdc++ and libgcc so that every time I write a program I don't have to put "-static-libgcc -static-libstdc++" into the command line. Is there something that I can edit in the configure file? Does it have t...

Re: Problems Compiling On Windows with MinGW

That worked doublemax. I guess I'll just have to explicitly link to libunicows if I want Win9x unicode support. I'm having another weird problem though, "make install" hangs. I've compiled libsdl and successfully used "make install", I'm not sure why wx2.9 is having this problem. Guess I'll have to ...

Does this only cause issues while compiling the library, or can it cause problems when compiling programs that link to the library?

Re: Problems Compiling On Windows with MinGW

Interesting, I'll give it a try without "--enable-mslu". I was hoping to make a unicode build with Win9x support.

----- EDIT -----
I think I can just link to the libunicows library when I build my apps if I want Win9x unicode support.

Problems Compiling On Windows with MinGW

After a few hours of compiling 2.9.3 the build fails :evil: with a bunch of "Cannot export" errors. I am using version 4.6.1 of gcc and g++ . Here are the arguments that I used to configure: ./configure --prefix=/mingw --enable-msw --enable-uxtheme --enable-mslu --enable-intl --enable-monolithic --w...

Re: Loading WAV from Char Array or Resource

I've been wanting to switch to 2.9 but Debian and Ubuntu don't have it in their official repos and I don't think it has been ported to Python yet. I tried it on Windows once. I think I'll go ahead and compile it.

Loading WAV from Char Array or Resource

On windows I was able to figure out how to play an embedded wav resources with wxSound . Now I would like to do something similar with Linux. I have two methods of embedding a wav into an executable, one is by creating and object file with objcopy , and the other is by creating a char array that hol...

How could I miss that :). Thanks a bunch, you are awesome!

I have a similar question about wxSound, but I am going to start a new thread for it.
