Re: ShowModal() and background of wxTextCtrl

Edit: I can confirm it behaves like that with wxWidgets dialogs. It appears that native Windows dialogs don't trigger that color change ... odd. Edit2: Apparently rich text control doesn't suffer from that, after adding wxTE_RICH to the style flags in the text control ctor the issue seems to be gone...

Re: ShowModal() and background of wxTextCtrl

Has wxFileDialog special attributes which wxDialog doesn't have? On Windows, wxFileDialog is not a regular wxWidgets dialog, it's Windows' common dialog box (or IFileDialog on Vista and newer) displayed by GetOpenFileName() function. wxDirDialog works analogically, using the dialog displayed by SHB...

Re: Debug alert in Release? Why?

Starting with wxWidgets 2.9.1 debugging features are always available by default (and not only in a special "debug" build of the library) and you need to predefine wxDEBUG_LEVEL symbol as 0 when building both the library and your application to remove them completely from the generated object code....

Re: Debug alert in Release? Why?

I know that disagreeing with doublemax means I'm very likely wrong , but still ... ;) I just tried and wxASSERT does not produce any message nor is the expression inside the parenthesis evaluated in the Release mode (wxInfoMessageBox reports debug level = 1). wxWidgets 2.9.4 compiled with MSVC 2008 ...

Re: Parameterize a func in wxCommandEventHandler

I am not sure I understand the question. But if you meant how can you generalize the event handler parameter of Connect: you didn't mention what wxWidgets version are you using but if you happen to use 2.9 - have you looked into Bind which provides more flexibility than Connect? I am just guessing h...

Re: wxRadioButton foreground colour

How can I change/set the radiobuttn text colour?Miki m_radioBtn1->SetForegroundColour( wxColour( 0, 0, 255 ) ); works for me on Windows XP using classic theme. Use a dialog designer (like wxFormBuilder) that allows changing colors for controls to see easily what works and what does not. But I guess...

Re: Problems running debug version of Hello World with VC++

To find from where wxmsw29u_core_vc_custom.dll is loaded you can e.g. run the release build of your Hello World app, launch Process Explorer , select the app in the process list and from the Process Explorer's menu select View/Lower Pane View/DLLs. After that, just find wxmsw29u_core_vc_custom.dll i...

Re: WinUSB vs. wxThread on Windows 7

Stupid wild guess, but from my experience the source of such errors is often that one is being overwriting memory somewhere. I assume that buff is at least those 64 bytes long, but maybe it's happening somewhere else? The occurrence of the issue not being random should help too - maybe you gradually...

Re: getchar() wx style

I'm not really sure what you want to accomplish but I assume you just want to log (and process) key presses? 1. Connect the KeyEvent (usually done in the constructor of the text ctrl parent) 2. Process the key stroke (i.e. what you do in ScanCU except connecting the event) in the event handler (KeyP...

Re: Problems running debug version of Hello World with VC++

Actually, what I find to be weird is that Windows were able to locate any wxWidgets DLLs at all and launch the release version of your application. Linker settings should have no effect on that. The DLLs must be somewhere Windows can find them . Maybe you copied the libraries somewhere, or did you u...

Re: Common problem: no 'wxClassInfo* GetClassInfoW() const

Compiles just fine for me (after replacing m_owner with GetOwner() in IdleDetector::SetState()), wxWidgets current SVN trunk and MS VC 2008 Express. IdleDetectorEvent seem to have both DECLARE_DYNAMIC_CLASS and IMPLEMENT_DYNAMIC_CLASS so it shouldn't be problem. In case you have #include <windows.h>...

Re: how to execute external process better than wxExecute

I also have no experience with capturing process output, but ... A stupid question: Have you checked out the exec sample bundled with wxWidgets to see how the output capturing is done there? Or is it done there the way that was uselessly slow? What compiler and version of wxWidgets do you use? But t...

Re: C++ syntax highligting in posts

Thanks for the explanation. Too bad then, I didn't think that getting a decent C++ syntax highlighter for phpBB was difficult. My fault, if it was easy it would be already here, I suppose. [off-topic]By the way, I also noticed that the forum site lacks favicon, not that it is important. And one more...
