Re: wxSocket confusion

evstevemd, i need to apologize. I sent you on the wrong track. The sample you need to check is the "sockets" sample. Sorry for the time you wasted on this  No need to apologize. You give your best here. I would rather thank you for taking your time to answer our questions. No one pays you her...

Re: wxWebView with Chromium backend

If my opinion ever counted on this, I would abolish other backend and focus on this one. On this case, nativeness isn't that advantageous!

Re: wxWebView with Chromium backend

I wished this became part of wxWidgets. :-) Cheers Natu The problem is maintenance. Once included in wxWidgets, it will require core dev to make sure that it always works. But there are many wxWidgets library (wxSQLite3 for example) that have maintainer(s) but aren't part of wx and we use them exte...

Re: wxSocket confusion

I have made first attempt here. The UI simply have a button which when push just connects to the server and sends the text from textctrl Right now pushing the button hangs and that is happening on "TCPClient::Connect()". The connection never returns. On the other app, it reports connection as succes...

Re: wxSocket confusion

In any case, the "client" part of the "ipc" sample is good place to start. Does any sample code exist (in any language) that shows how to communicate with the other application? Or documentation? Ok thanks, I will take a look at it. It sends simple string. So other than IP and port, nothing else ex...

Are both applications under your control? Then check the "ipc" sample, it does exactly what you need.
No. The other app isn't under my control. I can change mine only!

wxSocket confusion

I need to write simple app that sends instruction to another app via TCP/IP. The other app runs TCP server and I need to connect and send instruction. Then the app have to continue with its business until it receives a notification of available answer (it migh take time). In summary the communicatio...

Re: macOS Compile error (git master 3.1.3) property 'effectiveAppearance' not found

1. Does it work when you compile stable version?
2. do you really need wx28 compatibilty (see --enable-compat28)?

Re: Make wxStyledTextCtrl fonts Smooth

So CodeLite looks OK? No, not like I wanted (see the VSCode screenshot) but It have the best looking among Scintilla Editors. Can someone compare the CL and my app and see if there is any difference at all? CodeLite uses wxWidgets for its UI and I believe it also uses its wxSTC as I remember eranif...

Re: Make wxStyledTextCtrl fonts Smooth

but even sublime text looks the same (see the screenshot). So I believe somemthing is missing in wxWidgets. Is sublimetext using Scintilla? I think one would need to compare scintilla-based editors to make sure the issue is with wxWidgets (Scintilla wrapper)... I see what you are saying. They all l...

Re: Make wxStyledTextCtrl fonts Smooth

I think it is wxWidgets limitations. I will apply your suggestions on Windows and see what I get.
Meanwhile if anyone knows anything helpful for Mac/Gtk, I would appreciate that!

Re: Make wxStyledTextCtrl fonts Smooth

As doublemax said, VSCode is an Electron app, so all its UI is rendered by a web browser (chromium). I see! How do other Scintilla-based applications look, e.g. SciTe and Notepad++? Not so different from mine. I checked Notepad++, Komodo Edit, Zerobrane, and CodeLite. Here is a screenshot of the sa...

Re: Make wxStyledTextCtrl fonts Smooth

The font weight of the VS version just looks a tiny bit higher I saw that and though may be its bold. But then I found in settings its regular. But VS is Chrome based, maybe Chrome has its own font rendering engine. It might be. but even sublime text looks the same (see the screenshot). So I believ...

Maybe try that and check if it looks better to you.
Thank you. I will definitely try that!
