From: http://forums.wxwidgets.org/viewtopic.php?t=21112&highlight=linker+input+file+unused+linking+done ...you might want to separate build and link flags. Putting both toghether is conveniant for small one-file examples in a single command, but since you seem to be building a .o first, you would ne...

Trying to compile a tutorial

I've made a Makefile for the "Simple" tutorial at http://zetcode.com/tutorials/wxwidgetstutorial/firstprograms/ . The program seems to compile just fine but there is a lot of output about linkers that I don't understand. Does it have to do with the way that I compiled wxWidgets? Makefile: WXFLAGS=`C...

It is ok, but it is better use WXSIZEOF() for array dimension: wxComboBox *sect_widg = new wxComboBox(page_1, -1, sect_opt[31], wxDefaultPosition, wxDefaultSize, WXSIZEOF(sect_opt), sect_opt); Thanks I like this a lot. Jorg, I'll have to look into what you say. It may take me a little while to get ...

wxComboBox - Is there a better way?

I was just wondering if there was a better way to do this, or if this is satisfactory: wxString sect_opt[] = {_T("Base System"), _T("Communication"), _T("Cross Platform"), _T("Development"), _T("Documentation"), _T("Editors"), _T("Electronics"), _T("Email"), _T("Embedded Devices"), _T("Gnome Desktop...

Would you like to see a wxPython specific section?

I am a wxPython user as well as a C++/wxWidgets novice, and I would like to see a wxPython section in these forums.... as long as it would be useful.

Creating my own class?

I'm trying to create my own class that is simply a wxWindow with a white background. car.h: #include <wx/wx.h> class Car : public wxWindow { public : Car(const wxString& title); }; Car::Car(const wxString& title) : wxWindow(NULL, -1, wxDefaultPosition, wxDefaultSize) { SetBackgroundColour(wxT("#ffff...

I've tried the following, but my program crashes. #include <wx/wx.h> class MainWindow : public wxFrame { public: MainWindow(const wxString& title); void LoseFocus(wxFocusEvent& event); wxPanel *panel1; wxButton *buttonA; wxButton *buttonB; wxBoxSizer *v_sizer; wxBoxSizer *h_sizer; }; MainWindow::Mai...

Setting and keeping focus on a widget?

I want the focus to be set on a particular widget and kept on that widget always. An example would be I have two buttons (buttonA and buttonB) on a panel. buttonB is set to have the focus. After pressing buttonA, the focus will still be on buttonB.

How can I accomplish this?

Thanks. I recompiled wxWidgets with the flag:

Code: Select all

--disable-shared
Now I don't have to include wx's dlls. I'm not going to worry about mingwm10.dll.

I'll try that, but I want to be able to use the keypad to input characters into the TextCtrl. I'm trying to build a calculator.
