A function that is declared as virtual is always virtual. In every derived class. whether you explicitly write "virtual" in your derived class or not. So if you need a "virtual" to remind you, that this function is virtual use it. If not, don't. Makes no difference. So, do you say OnInit in wxApp i...

Hi, It's virtual because if you derive your own class from wxApp, you can override the default OnInit method with one of your own if you choose. See http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/polymorphism.html Jim Thanks for reply. Why should i derieve from MyApp? Why not direcly from wxApp? Thanks.

Why virtual bool OnInit()? Why virtual?

Hi friends!

Just a easy question (for you). Why do you declare OnInit as virtual?

I started with wxWidgets reading this
http://www.wxwidgets.org/docs/tutorials/hello.htm
and I don't understand why oninit is virtual.

Thanks a lot.

About wxFormBuilder + wxGlCanvas, see here : http://forum.wxformbuilder.org/index.php?PHPSESSID=20bfe15b4d3a4a64315acb5dbe19d71f&topic=36.0 In short, it's not officially supported, but you can do everything else in wxFB and then add the Gl canvas by hand. Interesting. Bt the way, Is there any other...

Just to add on what others said, the following articles will help you create an OpenGL canvas, catch events and render in a loop : http://wiki.wxwidgets.org/Making_a_render_loop http://wiki.wxwidgets.org/WxGLCanvas#wxGLCanvas_sample About coding GUIs or using an editor, I guess it's a matter of per...

I'm currently writing an emulator and so far using wx's wxGLCanvas class with a wxTimer is working out very well for frame rendering (I need a refresh every 16.6ms). Basically I merged the wxTimer based "render loop" and OpenGL examples available on the wx wiki. Using OpenGL also gives you the acce...

Using SDL and OpenGL with wxWidgets to create a game editor

Hi dudes! I would like to create a level editor for my game, a 2D platform usign opengl and a physics engine written in C, because of this, I must use C++ (Firstly I wanted to use Delphi, cause it is a RAD, but as it was not possible to integrate the physics engine, I discard it). Questions: Can I d...

I have the same problem, and I don't see anything about "center" inside "wxFileSelector" class. This is my code: wxString filename = wxFileSelector(wxT("Choose a COLLADA file."), wxT(""), wxT(""), wxT(""), wxT("COLLADA DAE files (*.dae)|*.dae)|All files (*.*)|*.*"),wxOPEN | wxFILE_MUST_EXIST, this, ...

Question about patches.

Hi out there! I realised there is a program that implements OPENGL full screen anti-aliasing using wxwidgets. It's NOC and they have released a patch to add this functionality to wx widgets 2.6.3 http://noch.sourceforge.net/#Downloading My question is if this patch will be available in next wxwidgte...
