Is the c++ wxwidgets book worth buying?

Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong section.

I was checking into getting the official wxwidgets book and found out is was printed in 2005. Does this mean the book is out of date and mostly useless?

wondering is wxdev for me???

I use dev c++ alot and Im wondering is wxdev c++ for me.

I want to be able to use wxWidgets to create application for Windows,MAC,Linux and maybe freebsd (kind of likely.)

GCC should be your first choice
I want to use MinGw or dev c++ I guess.

So what your are saying is there is no one compiler that truly satisfies all
common operating systems and is easy to use with wxWidgets?
