How does this sound :D You are free to use this software, and to distribute unmodified versions of it. You are not free to reverse engineer, or modify the software's source code in any way. I, the author, am not responsible for any damage this software may cause to you or your computer. You have no ...

You can create your own license agreement or use an existing free license (like Creative Commons). The creative commons website: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/GPL/2.0/ Implies (I think..) that the user has the right to modify the program, which I kind of don't want right now. Your software is...

How to license my software?

Sorry if this has been asked before. I did a search, but was unable to find an answer to my question. I'd like to make the software I've been working on available for free, but I don't want to release the source code. What type of license should I use for my software? I'm assuming I do need some sor...

Yes. I'm sending the "Refresh" and "Update" commands to the panel from my function that updates.

I've put the images into a wxPanel, which I add into my main frame. This seems to stop the flickering from happening everywhere, except for the wxTextCtrl that I have. Should I try adding that onto a separate panel as well?

Flickering problems

I'm having a problem. The main window of my application is flickering, badly :( Originally, just the four bitmaps I had on the window flickered. But then I tried following this article: http://wiki.wxwidgets.org/Flicker-Free_Drawing And so I created an empty "OnEraseBackground" function, and put my ...

Great explanations, thank you! This is part of the serial port initialization code: COMMTIMEOUTS timeouts={0}; timeouts.ReadIntervalTimeout=50; timeouts.ReadTotalTimeoutConstant=50; timeouts.ReadTotalTimeoutMultiplier=10; timeouts.WriteTotalTimeoutConstant=50; timeouts.WriteTotalTimeoutMultiplier=10...

Thanks for helping.

I'm wondering why the CPU doesn't jump to 100% when the code inside the IF statement executes then? It seems like it would take more processing power to do something, then to do nothing...

Thread taking 100% CPU when empty?!

This seems kinda weird, and I'd appreciate insight from someone as to why it's happening, and how to fix it. I have a thread in my program that constantly polls the COM port for data. But when the program first runs, the COM port code (which is inside the thread) doesn't run yet (it's inside an IF s...

Dialog / Popup Window question

Is there a class already created that just makes a small popup window with a text field, OK button and cancel button, that returns the value entered?

Or should I derive a new class from the Dialog class?

Thanks.

Is there a way to display the messages in the same place? Like, in firefox (which I happen to be using right now) the status text says "Done." Moving the cursor over a link changes the status text to the address of the link, and moving the cursor off the link changes the text back to "Done." That's ...

Status text problem

I have a thread running in my program that receives data, and depending whether the read is successful or not, will set the status text to "Receiving Data..." or "Stopped..." respectively. The problem is that when I click on a menu and hover the mouse over a menu option, the option's description tha...

Thank you for helping.

I tried adding this to the event table:

Code: Select all

EVT_ERASE_BACKGROUND(paintPanel::OnEraseBackground)
and added this function:

Code: Select all

void paintPanel::OnEraseBackground(wxEraseEvent& event)
{
	this->SetBackgroundStyle(wxBG_STYLE_CUSTOM);
}
but the flickering remains :(

How to stop panel from flickering?

I'm painting on a panel that's inside a frame, it gets repainted at a high rate and flickers terribly.

Is there a way to stop the panel from flickering when it's repainted?

I tried a few things I saw on the wiki, but haven't gotten anything to work.

Thanks for the help :)
