Re: Conversion from single byte char (0x0b and others) to Unicode

Hello PB, Thank you for the detailed analysis. I think I found why the conversion fails: The ascii range 0..31 are in fact control characters. This range was in the beginning of the PC era also used for special symbols by some OEM PC suppliers to extend the number of visual symbols. As there is a "d...

Conversion from single byte char (0x0b and others) to Unicode

Hello, I am using wxWidgets 3.1.2. on Win10 pro 64bit Visual Studio 2019. My objective is to display a character I received from a digital device (single byte character set encoded, codepage 437) in a wxGrid table. I need to send the grid data to the device and display the read data in the grid. Wit...

wxLocale: how to use multiple locales for wxString?

Hello, I have an application that needs to use "C" style locale instead of the default locale. The reason is that for my default loclale PI converts to 3,1415 instead of 3.1415. So in C (win 32), i use to use the C' locale: _locale_t localeC = _create_locale(LC_ALL, "C"); wchar_t buf[255]; _swprintf...

wxDatagramSocket unable to receive reply if reply port is not receive port at partner side

Hello: I am trying to setup a communication between a PC and an Arduino: To test I set up a basic echo application where the Arduino echos the PC messages. Using wxDatagramSocket, the echo works as long as the Arduino answers from the Arduino port that received the message. However, if the Arduino a...

Re: Code:Blocks + Gcc skeleton application = 50+ depreciated warnings?

Hello Manolo, Sorry for the late reply. As VC2008 debugger is for me a lot more convenient compared to CodeBlocks/Gcc i sticked to VC2008 and used CodeBlocks for the resources part. But indeed, for sure your solution would work. I might even need a similar solution for the fact that wxDatagramsocket...

wxSmith not changing .cpp any more.

Hello, I made an application with wxSmith & some menu resources, all went ok. Now for some reason, if I modify my resources in deh wxSmith editor, wxSmith is no longer updating my .cpp. I do not recall modifying the code that was automatically generated (or any other delicate part of my project). Is...

Hello @Manolo, Hello @Oneeyeman. Thank you for your answer. In fact I already have code:blocks operational with VC & GCC compilers, I am using both on my machines. The major problem I ran into with the Microsoft compiler is that the debugger one needs to use (cdb) does not come via VC2008 pro. (i ha...

Re: Code:Blocks + Gcc skeleton application = 50+ depreciated warnings?

Hello, @Manolo, Thank you for your answer. So the only way to get rid of these pages of warning is to go to another compiler, there is no switch within WxWidgets or GCC do disable these warnings? I am used to Microsoft compilers and there #pragma is used to disable warnings but it seems TDM-GCC is u...

Code:Blocks + Gcc skeleton application = 50+ depreciated warnings?

Hello, I installed wxWidgets 3.0.4 with code:blocks 17.12 TDM-GCC-64 on Win7.0. I generated a default gui wxWidgets application using the code:blocks wxWidgets wizzard. Compiling generates 50+ depreicated warnings ? Do I have to take these warning serious or just kick them out disabling the deprecia...

wxAutoBufferedPaintDC stores AxisOrientation, wxPaintDC does not??

Hello forum members, If I understand the documentation correctly, changing from wxPaintDC to wxAutoBufferedPaintDC should only yield in added buffered drawing, all other dc functions remain the same. wxBufferedPaintDC is a buffered version of wxPaintDC . Simply replace wxPaintDC with wxBufferedPaint...

Re: Newbee question: How to get started in DialogBlocks / wxWidgets

Hello Doublemax, Thank you for the reaction. I think your analysis is 100% correct: I found a tutorial within the DialogBlocks help that shows how to make a dialog box using some kind of resource editor that generated C++ code. However, I got stuck in the end again because I could not find if the ba...

Newbee question: How to get started in DialogBlocks / wxWidgets

Hello forum members, I have been using MFC and VC for more than 25 years, but recently i decided to look at wxWidgets and dialogBlocks. I got WxWidgets "hello world" running on VC without much problems. I can compile and run sample projects on DialogBlocks and run them succesffully from time to time...
