Re: Form Style in wxSmith

Windows Vista, CodeBlocks + wxSmith, wxWidgets 3.1.0 static individual libraries. The executable works fine except it doesn't have the titlebar options I am trying to achieve.

Re: Form Style in wxSmith

The application icon dropdown on the top left of the form. There must be some way to show it while simultaneously disabling the form maximize button.

Form Style in wxSmith

I'm trying to set the form style in wxSmith; I want a fixed border form with a control box at the top left of the form title, disabled maximize button, enabled minimize button, and the close button far right. When I try to set this up in wxSmith I am finding it impossible because... 1) If I turn on ...

Re: UUID DataType

I have been unable to get that library to work. It uses OS calls to generate the UUID values, so possibly it can't handle that I'm running Windows Vista (or a more likely reason is that I screwed up linking the library somehow). Are there libraries you can recommend that will provide UUID without ca...

UUID DataType

Does wxWidgets provide a UUID class that works across platforms? I'm seeing a UUID class in "wx/msw/ole/uuid.h", but is that only for Windows builds or will it compile cross-platform? Is there a better solution for implementing UUID datatypes in a wxWidgets C++ application?

Assigning NULL to wxDateTime?

Is there a datatype similar to wxDateTime but that also allows assignment of a NULL value? I'm trying to do something like this...

Code: Select all

wxDateTime Book::getDate()
{
    wxDateTime val;
    val = NULL; //No date is assigned yet.
    return val;
}

Or will I have to return wxDateTime*?

Re: wxFrame Minimum Size on Load

Never mind, I just had to set the wxFrame default size to something larger than the minimum size.

wxFrame Minimum Size on Load

When I load a window, the window is loaded at a size that is smaller than the wxFrame minimum size dimensions. After the window has loaded, if I use the mouse to resize the window, even just slightly, the window size is automatically enlarged to be larger than the wxFrame minimum size. How should I ...

Re: Adding a custom widget to wxSmith?

I'm reading up on C++ as I can find the time. I have been using Code::Blocks to make things easier when compiling for Linux.

Re: Adding a custom widget to wxSmith?

I actually have decades of VB experience and I dabbled in C++ back in college, it's just that I've forgotten most of my C++ and the transition from VB.NET to C++ is not as direct as I'd hoped. But, jumping into a complex project has always been my favorite way of learning, striving for a high-qualit...

Re: Adding a custom widget to wxSmith?

Your code did the trick, thanks! I'm running into a new problem though; when I put a wxCustom control onto a form, then set the class name to ArrowNav, wxSmith then auto-generates the following line of code in the form's cpp file: Custom1 = new ArrowNav(Panel1,ID_ARROWNAV1,wxDefaultPosition,wxSize(1...

Re: Adding a custom widget to wxSmith?

Wow, those code brackets make a world of difference! When I post build log text should I wrap that in code brackets as well?

Re: Adding a custom widget to wxSmith?

I went ahead with the suggested method of using a placeholder object then renaming it to fit the custom class I am building (ArrowNav). Unfortunately, I am still new to C++ and wxWidgets so I find myself running into a compiler problem that I haven't been able to solve. The build log shows this: Arr...

Re: Adding a custom widget to wxSmith?

I was hoping there was an easy way to add a control into wxSmith without going into coding acrobatics.

Adding a custom widget to wxSmith?

I'd like to add a custom widget to the wxSmith widget groups (in this case a grouping of tape-recorder style buttons). Is there a good beginner tutorial on how to do this? I've done some web searching with no luck.
