Re: GLFW for OpenGL in wxWidgets

Thank you for the tip @tomkulaga
I'm afraid I'm too novice to be able to understand and use those patches and features, but I'll definitely give it try :)

GLFW for OpenGL in wxWidgets

Greetings all, I would like to combine a wxWidgets application with OpenGL capabilities. For OpenGL context creation I am using GLFW, and I would like the context to be within a window of the application. I know of wxGLCanvas, but I would like to use GLFW because of the contrext attributes it allows...

Re: undefined reference to `wxCRT_StrdupA(char const*)

I played with the project settings a little, and I think the issue was the missing "wxUSE_UNICODE" in "#defines".

That opens another question though - how did this define disappear from there. But that is certainly not a wxWidgets issue anymore. Thank you Manolo.

Re: undefined reference to `wxCRT_StrdupA(char const*)

After searching more I also found that this error is connected with using the compiler option -std=c++11 , for gcc to follow the ISO C++11 standard. So that was the change I did in CodeBlocks settings since the last time I built and ran the project. But even after unchecking it the build problem rem...

undefined reference to `wxCRT_StrdupA(char const*)

Greetings all ! This time I have a problem building a wxWidgets project in CodeBlocks, and probably bigger problem than that is that I am totally lost as to how it could happen and what information to give. After days ( or a week ) I returned to coding this project, last time it all worked fine ( ot...

Re: Build errors with wxWidgets + OpenGL, after include free

Doublemax, that was it, thank you !

Can you please explain me how to spot this kind of mistakes. So next time, if it happens, I will recognize or prevent it from happening in the first place.

Regards, T

Build errors with wxWidgets + OpenGL, after include freeglut

Hello all ! I am trying to write an application that includes both wxWidgets and OpenGL ( FreeGLUT & GLEW ). I am using CodeBlocks & C++ on a Win 7 machine. So far I have written some wxWidgets code that builds and works properly. But when I add the line : #include "GL/freeglut.h" The program doesn'...

Tutorial on Sizers and possible wxWidgets 3 book ?

Greetings all ! :D I have two proposals/suggestions regarding the potential new wxWidgets learning mateiral, that many would find very useful : First, I would like to ask about considering writing an up-to-date and little bit more detailed tutorial on Sizers. While it's true I am a beginner and stil...

Re: Event handler function to wxButton with Bind()

Certainly, doublemax. I hope this is conveniently stripped enough yet with all the important components : class MainFrame: public wxFrame { public: MainFrame(wxWindow *parent, wxWindowID id, const wxString &title, const wxPoint &pos=wxDefaultPosition, const wxSize &size=wxDefaultSize, long style=wxD...

Re: Event handler function to wxButton with Bind()

After recommendation, I put the handler function at the end of MainFrame constructor ( that means no more MainFrameFunctions ). So I changed the Bind() function to : buttonOne->Bind(wxEVT_BUTTON, &MainFrame::buttonOneClicked, this); but I get the error : no matching function for call to 'wxButton::B...

Re: Event handler function to wxButton with Bind()

Thank you for the answer, I appreciate it. But I do get an error... after I put the Bind() at the end of MainFrame constructor, I get an error

Code: Select all

cannot convert 'MainFrame*' to 'MainFrameFunctions*' in initialization|
I use CodeBlocks 13.12.
Do you have any idea maybe how to solve it ? Thank you.

Event handler function to wxButton with Bind()

Hello all. I am trying to create a simple, basic application to start off with wxWidgets. I can already set up a frame and put menu, menu items and buttons on it and it all displays properly. However I have troubles using Bind() to attach an event handler to the button. To strip the code a bit, I ha...

Re: Bulding "OpenGL - cube" example in CodeBlocks, from wxPa

Manolo, thank you very much for your kind and informative reply, I really appreciate it. The example works now, and truly only thing to change was to take the library from MSW wxWidgets ( from SourceForge ), and not from wxPack. I suppose it must be documented somewhere in wxPack that this version w...

Bulding "OpenGL - cube" example in CodeBlocks, from wxPack

Hello all, I have been trying to build and run the OpenGL example ( ...\wxWidgets3.0\samples\opengl\cube ) in CodeBlocks 13.12 with no success. I have x64 Windows 7 machine, and I have installed wxWidgets from wxPack 3.0 . Before that I was doing simple wxWidgets and OpenGL projects ( separately ) a...
