Re: [SOLVED] Modal Frame

Well - the wxWindowDisabler worked as advertised - but as I create everything from the heap and not the stack - where to put the pointers to everything and how to destroy them became dicey with the interaction of the wxWindowDisabler and the wxFrame's destructor. And got worse if my user closed the ...

Re: Modal Frame

Thank you for the response. The wxWindowDisabler(wxWindow *winToSkip) may just be the right tool. I'm writing the code right now and expect to have it done soon. I'll write back in the next day or two how it works. I appreciate the help with fleshing out my wxWindows knowledge..... The search term "...

[SOLVED] Modal Frame

Good Afternoon, I see and have uses both wxDialogs, and wxFrames. Now I have an application where I need the Window to be modal, but be able to contain a menubar - which can't be dropped onto a wxDialog, but only a wxFrame. In the not too distant past I've used "...MakeModal(true);" in my wxFrame's ...

Re: [SOLVED] wxWidgets 3.0.4 - App won't run in release form

Thank you, to all of you for the great support. C# had made me lazy - there is no other way to put it. Using the -Wall setting, I discovered that I had two variables that were not being initialized, and two member functions that were not returning values as defined in the function prototype. I fixed...

Re: [SOLVED] wxWidgets 3.0.4 - App won't run in release form

Perceptive.... I have some global variables in a class.... to be used (r/w) between frames and dialogs. Although the program runs just fine in debug mode, and also runs just fine in release mode - as long as I don't optimize. In fact I ran it today for about 4 hours in the release mode, as a stand-a...

Re: [SOLVED] wxWidgets 3.0.4 - App won't run in release form

Thank you for the reply. gdb is of little benefit when the release build strips out the debugging symbols. And the compiler complains about optimizations turned on while building with the debug symbols. It's a single-threaded app (at this time), it does not do any networking at all. It's a basic dat...

[SOLVED] wxWidgets 3.0.4 - App won't run in release form

Arch Linux. C::B 17:12. wx 3.0.4. gcc = 9.1.0, gdb = 8.3. Target platform = x64. All packages from my distro's repo. Nothing built from scratch. I have an app that compiles and runs just perfectly in the debug mode. But when I build the release version - it crashes with no error codes. I launched it...

Re: [SOLVED] Tab Traversal Woes

Last Post from me: I created a new VM, put Linux Mint 19.1 xfce in it, installed codeblocks and the required 3.0.4 libraries and dev files, and created a small test app. I put 4 ComboBoxes on it, no panel, just put the ComboBoxes directly on the Frame. Made sure all TAB_TRAVERSALS were turned off (t...

Re: [SOLVED] Tab Traversal Woes

Thank you all of you for your posts.... I sent a post to the CodeBlocks forums about developing for 3.1.2, in a system based upon 3.0.4. I have been warned of the pitfalls of doing so and have decided to stick with 3.0.4 for my two apps. The other choice was QT - and they are expensive for commercia...

Re: Tab Traversal Woes

Thank you doublemax....

That was my plan. Clearly 3.0.4 has issues. The bug tracker is full of them, and in the changelog for 3.2.* - it talks about fixing "several bugs related to TAB_TRAVERSAL.

Thank you again - I am going to mark this thread solved.

Re: Tab Traversal Woes

Unable to shutdown TAB_TRAVERSAL. Giving up under 3.0.4. But the main page clearly states this: Fix several bugs related to focus handling and TAB navigation in wxGTK. Seems like I am going to compile and give 3.1.2 a shot.....I am not worried about incompatibilities at this point - as I am not too ...

Re: Tab Traversal Woes

@PB - thank you for your post. Here are some answers: First a cut-n-paste from the documentation: void wxWindow::MoveBeforeInTabOrder ( wxWindow * win ) Same as MoveAfterInTabOrder() except that it inserts this window just before win instead of putting it right after it. Regarding sizers - even thou...

Re: Tab Traversal Woes

I've tried some other things. All to no avail. In the constructor I have done this: ComboBox1 = new wxComboBox(this, ID_COMBOBOX1, wxEmptyString, wxPoint(210,80), wxSize(300,30), 0, 0, !wxTAB_TRAVERSAL, wxDefaultValidator, _T("ID_COMBOBOX1")); I've also manually set this in the body of my code: Comb...

Re: Tab Traversal Woes

Thank you @doublemax for your response. Yes, I had tried this as well before posting. I tried to use the MoveAfter/BeforeInTab Order. I was getting a runtime error on both that complains that the object is not a window and it crashes. The documentation states: Moves this window in the tab navigation...

[SOLVED] Tab Traversal Woes

Good Evening All, CodeBlocks 17:12, wxSmith, wxWidgets 3.0.4, Manjaro x64. I have redone a GUI for a project of mine twice - fighting the Tab Traversal issue. I do not use sizers, they are a pain in my backsides and are always getting in my way. I used a panel, and even though Tab_Traversal is turne...
