Feature set looks quite impressive now. Is it possible to load html from memory yet (wxString or something) ?
Not yet, though somebody recently posted a patch to do just this to our forums (kirix.com). I intend to integrate this functionality.

Just to make sure: Is it OK to use the wxWebConnect library in an commercial application? I know that the wxWidgets license allows that but does the MPL? TIA Short answer: Yes, it's ok. We use wxWebConnect in our proprietary software, Kirix Strata. If you need help with understanding the requiremen...

Hi! Ok, did some further testing. I managed to alter the makefiles so that now I don't need a separate wxWidgets installation. Instead I use the version provided by wx-config. Cool. I'm glad you got it working. Sorry about the Makefiles being messed up-- we'll fix that shortly. I like the idea of u...

That said, looking through sources I can't find a way to load HTML from memory (like wxHTML::SetPage). Is it possible to add such method, or better yet, intergate with wxFileSystem or streams? Or is there some other way to do it? Right now there isn't a way to display raw html from memory. We tried...

Auria wrote:Seems totally awesome! :) This is something wxWidgets definitely needed. Can't wait to try it when I get home.

One thing I couldn't find though, on which platforms was it tested?
It works on Windows and GTK. The Mac version is forthcoming.

All the best,
Ben

But, all said, keep up the good work, we'll get it merged. Ben, do you mean you are thinking to merge my work? I know that you merge some (relatively small) patches, but you didn't merge VS2005 Style Docking and Auto Notebooks. I thought that it was because those patches are too big, so I didn't th...

No, they're not. I am doing it unofficially, because the official developer of wxAUI seems unfavorable to merging patches by other people. wxAUI is an official part of wxWidgets. So if the developer of wxAUI is unfavorable to merge patches by other people, then the team of wxWidgets MUST exclude wx...

Very interesting! But one thing, is it an engine that wraps mozilla/firefox, or does it utilize the gecko engine? It's a library that utilizes the gecko engine, as packaged by xulrunner. I'm pretty certain that it should be able to utilize existing Firefox 3 installations, because these use a versi...

I would be interested in open-sourced web-control because e.g. that sample application which comes with Mozilla/Firefox source code distro is not so good as it could be and also depends on whole source code of the browser. Ok. Good news. My company has decided to release our wxWidgets mozilla engin...

Thanks for pointing this out! We'll think of a new name.

Best,

Re: Kirix Strata Beta 3 Released - Database + Web Browser

Sorry for the off-topic but what kind of features will wxWeb provide? Will it just make it possible to add the web browser to the app or does it for example allow easy retrieving text control values from a page? Thanks! The library will provide a way of embedding the gecko engine, including program...
