Porting wx 2.6.x's undocumented wxSizer::IsShown() to 2.8.x

I am trying to port some code that used wxWidgets 2.6.x's undocumented API "wxSizer::IsShown()" (note no parameters). This function would return true if the sizer was shown, false otherwise. This function was removed in 2.8-- now only parameter based queries on children visibility is supported from ...

Fixed it. X was computing my screen DPI at 50. (17" screen at 800x600.) I forced X to use a DPI of 75. I suppose DPI 50 crosses some sort of font rendering threshold?

Font size on 800x600 (Linux)

I think this is more of a GTK question than a wx question, but maybe someone around here can answer my questions. Fonts look good when I run my wx application on a 1024x768 screen in Linux. When I run the same application on an 800x600 screen, the fonts get very tiny and hard to read. (I have compil...

This probably doesn't belong in a wxWidgets forum, but I'll try to answer your question anyway. I assume that when you mean array<> you mean vector<>? If that is the case, then you must COPY your C array to a vector class. double blah[10] = {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0}; std::vector<double> vecBlah(blah, bl...

Using Intel's C++ Compiler

I am evaluating Intel's C++ compiler for our project that uses wxWidgets. When I compile wxWidgets with ICC, the warnings come flooding in! Does anyone have any experience using Intel's C++ v9.1 compiler with wxWidgets? I noticed that the configure script believes that I am using both GCC and ICC. P...

wxWindow::RegisterHotKey() workaround for X11

wxWindow::RegisterHotKey() is only implemented on Windows. I would like to duplicate this functionality in my Linux wx app. I can do this if I code directly to X and use the XGrabKey() function. But where in the world am I going to get the X specific function parameters? XGrabKey(Display *display, i...

Impossible. You're asking if compiled-to code can be reduced away to direct MFC, right? I think you'd have to make wxWidgets a language at that point with a grammer and all. Youre uber-compiler would have to do the work of translating wxWidget calls into direct MFC. I don't know what your options ar...

I have been able to reproduce this with different window managers-- fvwm95, fvwm2, Gnome. I've spent at least a day trying to get around this problem. DaveHart , I have tried your solution to no avail. Please note that this problem appears to be intermittent. Sometimes the window reappears in the co...

I don't know yytg... wxGrid is very different from all the other widgets. It's also a buggy piece of crap.

Karen, you might want to take a look at wxSheet. It's a 3rd party wxGrid re-write. It also has more features.

Unless that's a Cut'N'Paste error in the post, you're filling a local pointer with your wizard, and then trying to run it with the member pointer. This is unlikely to succeed. Whoops! That was me trying to simplify my example. wizPtr/m_WizardPtr are the same thing. As for the c_MyWizardPage c'tor, ...

First time with wxWizard. Segfaulting.

I am playing around with wxWizard for the first time. When I start my app, I segfault in wxWizard::FinishLayout(). Here is my code: bool c_MainApp::OnInit() { wizPtr = new c_MyWizard(NULL, -1, wxT("Hello"), wxBitmap(wiztest_xpm)); wxWizardPage* p1 = new c_MyWizardPage(wizPtr); m_WizardPtr->RunWizard...

I just realized that my description is a little ambiguous. The empty area is NOT inside the wxGrid widget. The problem is not that I simply don't have enough rows to fill in the entire grid area. Typically, the grid background area is white and dialogs/panels are grey. The empty space is grey.

wxGrid and SetMaxSize()

I am having trouble with wxGrid and SetMaxSize(). I am using SetMaxSize() to restrict the size of a wxGrid. The actual viewable area is properly constrained by the SetMaxSize() parameters, but other widgets filled in around the grid as if the grid

Window ID Conflicts (and wxDesigner)

I am working on a large project where multiple GUI panels are developed with wxDesigner in different .wdr files. Many of these panels are then brought together into a single notebook widget. I am having some trouble with conflicting (or aliased) widget window IDs resulting in incorrectly delivered e...
