I am not sure if that will help you in your problem, but I had simillar thing happening when I was starting 3rd part app from my software. Maybe you should try to change execute command to: wxExecute(wxT("notepad"),wxEXEC_SYNC|wxEXEC_NODISABLE); This way wxExecute will wait until notepad will be clo...

If the only thing that the main thread needs to do is to "kill" secondary thread why not use build in methods? Instead of creating another class to communicate between threads in your case it may be easier to use wxThread::Delete and wxThread::TestDestroy. Delete will notify thread that it has to fi...

You can also include wx.rc. If I remember correctly it is in include/wx/msw, but you have to check it. It should embbed manifest into your app for both XP and Vista styles.

I've been looking at wxMediaCtrl source and it may be hard to create direct stream in cross platform way. I would recommand using OpenGL and some decoder (libavcodec should be fine). What you need to do is: 1. Create display layer with wxGLCanvas and create full view rectangle to fit your layer. 2. ...

Ok, I may have misunderstand you a little. So your app is basically client+server and probably you send directory/file list via sockets. Now what you may need is something like: http://vxl.sourceforge.net/ . I haven't use that one, but looks promising. Also try DirectShow examples, as they can easil...

You can also do something like "internal restart" that I have used in couple of my applications. All you need to do is to create empty and hidden top frame which will start your main classes. When you need to restart just call restart method in your hidden frame that will destroy all child frames, d...

Now I'm lost a little. You want to create media player that will alow you to play movies from computer B on computer A. In order to do that you need to have access to the file you want to play on B. This can be done via HTTP, FTP, VPN, etc. As long as you can access it on A, you are able to play it ...

Hi, If I'm right you don't need any library to stream video. All you need is in wx already. For simple players (I assume you will not write MediaPlayer from scrap  ) it should be enough to use wxMediaCtrl. If file is at remote location you can "feed" data via network by using wxURI. According ...

I have found solution for this problem. If I use Show() right after window creation desktop is refreshed correctly. I still think that it should be done automatically.

I was so stupid that I didn't tell you all that I'm using socket inside new thread. Solution was to put wxSocketBase::Initialize() inside wxApp::OnInit().

Sorry for waisting your time.
