I thought, that I should use wxControl instead of wxWindow as base class. But this does not help. Should I use wxControl? Or is wxWindow the right class? My component should contain other components, so I should use wxWindow right?

Hi,

thank you for your answer, but this does not help.

DialogBlocks looks really great. But with buttons and panels my program works. Only my own component is not expanded, so DialogBlock does not help me.

Setting maximum size of an item in a boxsizer

Hi, I have a boxsizer and two items in it. Now I want to achieve, that the first items size is limited. The sizer has the flag wxVERTICAL and the maximum height of the first item should be set to 50 pixel. I tried to use a SetSizeHints, but then I have limited the size, but a space between the items...

Hi,

thanks for your help, but

topPanel->SetBackgroundColour(wxColour("00","00","00"));

does not work:

error: invalid conversion from `const char*' to `unsigned char'

Any idea?

Hi, thanks for your answer. That was, what I've been looking for. But why using SetBackgroundColour instead of SetDefaultBackgroundColour? I tried it in that way: topPanel->SetBackgroundColour(wxColour("00","00","00")); The three parameters are the red green blue colors. What is the correct syntax? ...

Layout and style of components

Hi, I'm currently developing my first project with wxWidgets, but I have a lot of question. I have already searched in the documentation, but the tutorials don't help me. First: I have created a wxFrame. Now I wanna display a panel at the top, with a new background color. I tried it in that way: wxP...

Hi, I could also use these conventions: Own classes are being written upper case and methods lower case and original wxWidgets classes and methods have their style. So it could be interpreted: This is a special style :) So I can directly see, if the method is an inherited wxWidget Method, or an own ...

Hi, yes I know, what you mean. But in the last few years I acquired one style. I use it in all my programs, so I am still unsure, if I wanna change this style, just because there is a toolkit which has other conventions. Normally I am using qt, but I need a toolkit for a commercial project and the q...

Hi, thank you for your answers. But I think, it is very important, that my code is cleaned up. That there a consequent and continual structure of classes and that the names of classes and methods are clear. You say: Windows also uses uppercase for every method,... That's a reason for me to say: ok i...

names of classes and methods in wxWidgets

Hi, I have a little problem with the names of methods and classes in wxWidgets. Normally I have these konventions: The first letter of classes is written uppercase The first letter of methods is lower case and at the beginning of a new word, the first letter of the word is written upper case. But: W...
