Can you use wxwidgets + opengl pixel buffers?

I'm not sure if it's even possible, but I'm guessing it is based on the existence of wxWindow::GetHWND(). I realize FBOs would be better and that pbuffers aren't really cross platform but my app needs to run on cards that don't support. I'm using wxGLCanvas and I was wondering if anyone had gotten w...

I'm using the latest stable version of wxwidgets, 2.8.4.

What is the XP manifest setup? If it's something not specific to wxwidgets, I would guess yes because my app behaves this way on every machine on which I run it.

How do I check if I have wx.rc in my resources? I don't think I'm doing that.

Is there an XP style for wxGauge?

I'm using wxGauge, but the progress bar it makes is still the cruddy Windows95 looking one with just plain dark blue. Most XP progress bars are the little green squares. Is there a way to get this style of progress bar with wxWidgets?

I've tried using different IDs or same IDs, but I still haven't been able to get the correct behavior. It's not clear to me what ID I'm passing to Connect. I assume it's not the window ID, since Connect is already a method on a window so the ID should be obvious. If it's the event ID, passing a uniq...

Simple Connect question

I have a frame that has 4 wxTextCtrl's in it. If a wxEVT_SET_FOCUS event happens on either of the first two controls, I want function foo to be called. If a wxEVT_SET_FOCUS happens on either of the second two controls, I want function bar to be called (but not foo). How do I set this up using Connec...

Yes, the main problem I had with validators is that they don't do things on the fly. I'd prefer my users to be able to see their changes immediately -- not after they click OK.

I'm not sure how inherent that is to there design or if it'd be easy to change though.

How to let subclasses add to dialogs?

I have a class A that builds a dialog that lets the user change the properties of A. I have a subclass B that I want to be able to add extra options to this dialog. So if the user goes to A's properties, they see a dialog with options for A, and if they go to B's properties, they see a dialog with o...

Well, the way my implementation works is you override Connect for different kinds of wxObjects. So you might have these methods for example: void wxCheckBox::Connect(bool* mybool); // ties value to bool void wxButton::Connect(wxFont* font); // spawns a font dialog void wxTextCtrl::Connect(wxString* ...

Simplified Connect method?

I'm considering writing some subclasses of the standard widgets to add a "simple" version of the Connect method. A lot of the time I don't need a full blown callback method for an event -- I just want to set a boolean to true or false when a checkbox is clicked for example. It'd be nice to be able t...

Grouping widgets to show/hide

In my app I have a properties dialog that comes up when you double click an object. The dialog is built by a virtual method on the object -- so subclasses can add new stuff to the dialog. A subclass may add an option, that when checked, should make a whole class of options disappear. The options to ...

How to draw text on a transparent background in a wxImage?

I didn't expect for this to be so hard :P What I want is to draw white text on a transparent background, and then be able to get at the raw bytes for that. AFAIK, only wxImage lets you get at the raw bytes for an image through GetData() and GetAlpha(). But I can't draw text on a wxImage, so I have t...

Should program logic be in my wxFrame or my wxGLCanvas?

My app is just a simple wxFrame with a menu bar and a wxGLCanvas. Menu options in the wxFrame's menu bar should affect what's being drawn on the wxGLCanvas. For example, there's a checkbox option for whether or not the current FPS should be displayed. The issue is that the way I have it setup now, m...

Fast wxFont rendering on a wxGLCanvas

I'm trying to figure out a quick way to render text using wxFonts on a wxGLCanvas. This is proving to be sort of hard. First, I draw the text to a wxMemoryDC. Then I convert the wxMemoryDC to a wxBitmap. Then I convert the wxBitmap to a wxImage. THEN I use wxImage::GetData() to make an OpenGL textur...

wxImage.SaveFile() DPI?

Is there anyway to set the DPI wxImage uses to save? I'm working on an app that needs images to be saved with very high dpi because they're used in publication.
