Re: Can't compile wxWidgets 2.8 --with-opengl in ubuntu amd64 (Solved)

Hi, Could you please grab the latest 3.1.1 version of the library and retry. Post an exact error if you get any. Also, saying "still gen the error" is not enough. What is an exact error you received? Also, are you trying to cross-compile wxWidgets to some other architecture (not PC)? ARM maybe? And ...

Re: Append HTML to wxHtmlWindow without reloading

Hi, Well, its an open source project. You can do whatever. And if you think it will be beneficial - send an e-mail to wx-dev to ask if this will be a good contribution to the library. Keep in mind though that wxHtmlWindow supports very limited set of HTML4 tags and the best way of doing what you wan...

Re: wxButton simulate click

Hi, In short - don't do this. Ever!!! Unless you plan to work on wxWIdgets in the future. In long explanation - there is only 0.000001 % of use cases where you need to generate the event yourself and send it for processing in the user code. One of those cases is to write the testing framework for yo...

Re: How to know the size of row label or col label?

Hi, If I want to know coordinates of one of row/col label, is there this kind of member function? CellToRect can get position in logical coordinates of cell. I don't think so. What for do you need this information? It's for a very special purpose. I want to know the position of row/col label, then s...

Re: wxUpdateUiEvent, tool text, and help strings

Hi, Because wxUpdateUIEvent is not designed for that. Update UI event is designed just for that - so that controls can be either enabled or disabled. If you want to change the long/short text for the toolbar tools just call the appropriate function when you want it. But that would be very weird desi...

Re: wxUpdateUiEvent, tool text, and help strings

Hi, If you call this (pseudo-code): wxToolBarTool *tool = toolbar->GetTool( wxID_UNDO ); tool->Enable( true ); but there is nothing to undo, i.e. no operation was performed on the object i the frame, then undo/redo operations becomes out of sync, and it will create a confusion for user. The same is ...

Re: wxUpdateUiEvent, tool text, and help strings

Hi,
I understand all of that.
But why do you want to control Undo/Redo functionality? Are you sure you won't break it and they will always be in sync? Or even worse Undo available without nothing to Undo?

There is a reason for Undo/Redo is controlled internally...

Re: How to implement something like this?

doublemax, Please the attachment. On the left is the running scroll sample, on the right is your code. In the sample the scroll starts at the top, you code - scroll starts below the column labels. I can probably live with the design from your code, but, as I explained, that the design I'm after. Tha...

Re: Textctrl OnBackspace Event Availabiliy

doublemax, You could catch the wxEVT_CHAR event (-> wxKeyEvent), but that shouldn't be necessary. The wxEVT_TEXT event should always be called when the value of the text field changes, that means also in response to backspace. But i think there is a more serious flaw in the code: totalgrades gets in...

Re: How to implement something like this?

doublemax, To clarify it even more: The extra Column label window is here with the paint event is because the labels shoudn't be scrolled. They should stay in place no matter what. But the paint even of the canvas is un-needed and you can remove it. It doesn't do anything useful - just a remnant of ...

Re: Textctrl OnBackspace Event Availabiliy

Hi, This is a VERY BAD design . You should have a button on you frame which will read "Calculate" or some something like this. In the button pres event handler you will check whether all fields required hasw the values and then calculate the needed value. You can filter the characters types in the E...

Re: wxUpdateUiEvent, tool text, and help strings

Hi,
What is you use-case? Why do you want that?
UpdateUI events on the toolbar are usually for the enable/disable the tool. Text should stay the same. Otherwise it doesn't make much sense.

Thank you.
