Re: Single instance: open instead of launch [SOLVED]

Thanks — figured that would probably be the approach. (I hadn't seen those SO links: thanks for those.)

Single instance: open instead of launch [SOLVED]

I've looked into this a little (or more than a little) and either I can't find exactly what I'm looking for or it's one of those situations where I'm just being resistant to the truth. Basically what I want is the ability to mimic the behaviour one gets on Mac for free: i.e., double-clicking an asso...

How to generate toast-type messages

This one has me a little stumped. I'm looking for an approach to do toast-type messages. Or not necessarily toast/popup messages, but temporary message/status windows that may appear, at different times, more than one at a time, for varying durations, then fade away. Managing/animating the appearanc...

Key name from keycode

Basically I want to do the opposite of wxAcceleratorEntry::Create(), which is to take a keycode and get back the (translated) canonical name for that key.

Is there a way currently to do this?

(Otherwise I guess I can implement this myself by hoisting some stuff out of menucmn.cpp and reversing it.)

Ah. Turns out this is a (now-fixed) bug.

Re: Disable a complete wxMenu? [SOLVED]

As of sometime in 3.0, this no longer works on MSW. In minimal.cpp: // create a menu bar wxMenu *fileMenu = new wxMenu; // Add this: wxMenu *testMenu = new wxMenu; testMenu->Append(wxID_ANY, "Test Item"); wxMenuItem *testMenuItem = fileMenu->AppendSubMenu(testMenu, "Test"); testM...

Re: wxPdfDocument links not resolving [SOLVED]

Thank you. Changing it to use wxPdfDocument::SetLink() instead of wxPdfLink::SetLink() seems to have done it: int linkid = m_pdf->AddLink(); wxPdfLink page_link(linkid); //page_link.SetLink(page, y); m_pdf->SetLink(linkid, y, page); m_pdf->Link(x, y, width, height, page_link); Thanks again.

wxPdfDocument links not resolving [SOLVED]

Hello, I'm running into an issue when trying to create clickable links within a PDF generated with wxPdfDocument. The problem is that, during generation of a page, I'll do something like: int linknum = m_pdf->AddLink(); wxPdfLink page_link(linknum); page_link.SetLink(page, y); m_pdf->Link(x, y, widt...

Re: Expanding a sizer to the containing window

Hmm, okay. Thanks. I must be doing something else wrong, then — I'll play with it some more.

Thanks so much.

Re: Expanding a sizer to the containing window

(I guess what I want is to glue the edges of the enclosing sizer to the client area, then have that pull the contained controls apart rather than having the contained controls push the sizer out to size it.)

(If that makes any more sense.)

Re: Expanding a sizer to the containing window

Thanks so much for responding on this. Maybe I'm still misunderstanding, but regardless of proportion, isn't the size of the enclosing sizer itself still driven by its contents, i.e., the controls it holds, rather than the window that's holding it?

Expanding a sizer to the containing window

I use sizers for my dialogs, which works fine: they're not given a specific size, and the sizer sorts out all the layout. However, I have something I'd like to adapt to use sizers. It's a user-resizable panel (actually a wxAuiNotebook in an AUI pane) that I'd like to properly resize and reposition a...

Re: wxLocale::GetSystemLanguage() on MSW

Hmm, yeah, I'm going to have to unsolve this one for now.

Looks like there may be a few issues to look at regarding this approach.

(And it also seems to cause a crash on OS X, so the code would have to be #ifdef'd currently, regardless.)

Re: wxLocale::GetSystemLanguage() on MSW

Try the standard "setlocale". http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/clocale/setlocale/ Much appreciated. Yeah, I had started experimenting with that, but wasn't sure if going behind wx's back was the right approach. I would, for instance, like to properly support RTL text, but was hoping for...

wxLocale::GetSystemLanguage() on MSW

I'm running into an issue with wxLocale::GetSystemLanguage(), specifically (it seems) on Windows. The issue is this: I want to set the locale so that things like date functions and number formatting respect the user's chosen format. But a problem arises for a combination of, for instance, Hebrew und...
