Re: No "Window" menu on wxCocoa

No, neither of those has a Window menu, either. (Nothing does.)

No "Window" menu on wxCocoa

I've noticed this for quite a while and have kept forgetting to check it out definitively: Is it just me, or is there no (standard) Mac "Window" menu under wxCocoa in the final position before the "Help" menu? Apple's developer documentation states that the Window menu should be ...

Re: [OSX] wxButton::SetFocus() not actually setting focus in dialogs

In particular this is on 10.12.6 using a pull from master.

Note that this is with System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > All controls checked, which you need in order to set keyboard focus to any control (as opposed to just text boxes and lists).

In case anyone's looking for a (temporary) fix for the original issue:

[OSX] wxButton::SetFocus() not actually setting focus in dialogs

I just wanted to check to make sure this behaviour is consistent for others before delving further into it/reporting it as a bug. In, for instance, samples/dialogs, if you change the button being SetDefault() in any of the example dialogs, such as MyModalDialog from: m_btnModal->SetFocus(); m_btnMod...

Re: [Mac] wxTextCtrl not closing dialog on Enter

That's right: the original validate sample as-is doesn't have a default button, but I added it in that code snippet. After adding it, though, the wxTextCtrl still doesn't respond to Enter (for me).

Re: [Mac] wxTextCtrl not closing dialog on Enter

Huh. Something's not right somewhere then. Because if I minimally modify, for instance, the stock validate sample in validate.cpp: // setup the button sizer // ---------------------- wxStdDialogButtonSizer *btn = new wxStdDialogButtonSizer(); // btn->AddButton(new wxButton(this, wxID_OK)); wxButton ...

[Mac] wxTextCtrl not closing dialog on Enter

Is it just me, or does a wxTextCtrl without wxTE_PROCESS_ENTER not do the "used to activate the default button of the dialog, if any" part of its behaviour, on wxCocoa. For the longest time my application was built with 2.8 and this behaviour worked (as it does on Windows, for example). Ba...

Re: Custom event loop sample code

Trying to deal with some of the wxCocoa modality issues that occur with nesting dialogs in macOS (native) fullscreen mode. I've talked to Stefan a little about how to address the problem(s), and a lot of it you can work around by hiding dialogs before showing a child dialog, but I'm still not entire...

Custom event loop sample code

Is there any sample code for implementing a custom event loop? I'm about to venture into what I suspect is a very dark place and am wondering if ther are any torches I can take with me.

Thanks — figured that would probably be the approach. (I hadn't seen those SO links: thanks for those.)

Single instance: open instead of launch [SOLVED]

I've looked into this a little (or more than a little) and either I can't find exactly what I'm looking for or it's one of those situations where I'm just being resistant to the truth. Basically what I want is the ability to mimic the behaviour one gets on Mac for free: i.e., double-clicking an asso...

How to generate toast-type messages

This one has me a little stumped. I'm looking for an approach to do toast-type messages. Or not necessarily toast/popup messages, but temporary message/status windows that may appear, at different times, more than one at a time, for varying durations, then fade away. Managing/animating the appearanc...

Key name from keycode

Basically I want to do the opposite of wxAcceleratorEntry::Create(), which is to take a keycode and get back the (translated) canonical name for that key.

Is there a way currently to do this?

(Otherwise I guess I can implement this myself by hoisting some stuff out of menucmn.cpp and reversing it.)
