Ah, I thought since Margana is a program specifically for the commandline it would work... So there's no way for me to compile Margana at all? The helloworld program worked fine with no problems. But I tried compiling minimal with "make -f makefile.gcc" and I got a bunch of errors like *************...

At first, I installed Msys then Mingw. But I noticed that when I installed Msys it asked whether or not Mingw was installed, i guess so it could configure correctly. So I reinstalled Msys, this time giving it the directory for Mingw when it prompted me. I just tried compiling the minimal project usi...

Ok, I got gcc to work.

So NOW, I tried to compile simply using make and for some reason it's not able to link with the include files that come with MinGW. How do I make it so that it knows to use c:/mingw/include as an include directory

Thanks, I'm able to get to my c: drive now but it is saying gcc command not found... The thing is, with the readme files, they assume that you know a great deal about how to use these things so they really dont explain alot. Anyway, I did what it said and created a file called fstab in the /etc/ dir...

Ok, I've installed both MinGW and Msys, so how do i use it?

I've already created the fstab file as was instructed and I opened up the Msys shell, but I can't seem to do anything from that shell. It wont let me navigate my C: drive or anything. So how do I use these newly downloaded tools?

Ok, I got minimal to compile using nmake so that's fine.

Are there any other small C programs that I could easily compile, not related to wxWidgets?

[Edit] ***** Well I guess I want to be able to use the command line because sometimes it's not clear which files need to be compiled. ***** [End Edit] Thanks, nmake seems to be the command I was looking for. I haven't gotten anything to compile correctly but at least I know it's "working". So, this ...

Thanks

I have VC++ 6.0

How would I use make for this. Is there an option where I can specify the make file and it automatically compiles everything?

Make for Windows

I'm a newb and I have a very general concern. How do I use the "commandline" for windows and use a make file to compile? I tried to go to the command window using "Run", "cmd" etc. but that didn't work. So how am I supposed to actually use a make file in Windows?

Well would it be smart to just rename the files, or create a duplicate of the file and rename it so that I can have both wxregex.lib and regex.lib, etc.

All of the samples that come with wxWidgets compile just fine. I only have a problem compiling the templates I create using wxWinWizard.

Linker error...argh!

I was trying to compile a program template that I created with wxWinWizard 0.8.1 but I keep getting an error. Here's the link to the program that I was given that allows you to create templates. http://www.koansoftware.com/en/prd_svil_wxdownload.htm The problem is I just upgraded from version wxWidg...

Thanks, I found the problem. There was an unecessary link to library files so I took it out and those errors disappeard. So it looks like now I can get started, finally.... That wxWinWizard is very helpful but I did want to know how to setup new apps on my own. I guess I can learn that later. Thanks...

Thanks for that, Casey. It seems it will be very useful but I still get errors when I try to compile the file I created with that wxWizard. So either way, I get errors with these files. I got a bunch of linker erros like this: MSVCRTD.lib(MSVCRTD.dll) : error LNK2005: __vsnprintf already defined in ...

Ok so now all of the sample apps compile and run perfectly. But I can't get the helloworld file to compile without errors. This is the hworld file: http://wxwindows.org/hworld.txt I just renamed it with a .cpp extension and created a new workspace for it by choosing a new Win32 Application in MSVC. ...
